Parks Trails and Tracks
El Ejido Park is located between Avenue Patria and Guayaquil street, setting the divide between the old and modern areas of Quito. This charming space is known for the colourful paintings displayed on its north side, provided by local artists. There are also stalls that sell handicrafts and other interesting souvenirs.
A weekly event in the park is a volleyball tournament, organised and participated in by locals, and it always draws a crowd of interested spectators who enjoy watching the fun sport.
You can also enjoy viewing popular and traditional Ecuadorian games, such as cocos - a game where players remove metal marbles from a circle drawn into the ground. The aim of the game is to eliminate your opponent with a 'pepo' (stroke) to your opponent's marble. It is brilliant fun and very addictive.
Parque El Ejido Park is the third largest park in the city and is a cultural and creative hub, playing host to a range of popular and engaging events and activities.
