Shopping Centers
When it comes to the subject of Ecuadorian shopping malls, this is one of the classics. It is long established, having been around for more than 12 years, and covers a whopping 145,000 square metres of floor space. Not only that, there is a 100% occupancy (read: no empty shops) and the brands are great, ranging from national to international franchisees, and independent stores also.
The architecture is modern and it functions superbly, attractively soaring out of the Guayaquil cityscape. An iconic building in both appearance and service, Mall de Sol is a grand symbol of commercial Guayaquil, providing not only shopping space, but also fabulous options for entertainment, technology and cuisine.
The setting of this mall, in a tangle of main roads, is not the most scenic in the world, but it's definitely convenient, meaning that the centre is a mere three minutes from Guayaquil international airport. Due to its popularity and great location, the mall welcomes an incredible 1,500,000 people each month and 280,000 vehicles. There are 1,500 covered parking spaces.
The largest supermarket in the whole of Ecuador can be found here (Megamaxi) and also the most successful cinema chain (Cinemark). Services include free Internet connection (in the food court area), free baby products, carts for young children and several ATMs.
