Typical Ecuadorian
Pique y Pase started in June 1970 as a small soda fountain at Alejo Lascano & Carchi, which is the chain's main location nowadays, next to what was at the time the family's neighbourhood shop. The literal translation of its name, 'Pique y Pase', is 'nibble and go ahead'; this was short for 'nibble at the bar and go ahead to the shop'. Today, after over 40 years in the business, the company has passed through the hands of three generations of the Loayza family.
Pique y Pase is tradition. The main reason people go, and return again and again and recommend the place to their friends and family, is the great taste of the food, as many have commented; but also because it is a part of their life, as well as the clients themselves have been a part of the business's growth and evolution through the years. Added to this, the restaurants have a friendly family atmosphere with excellent service.
For a genuine taste of Guayaquil, of its food, people and tradition, Pique y Pase should be your choice.
