Typical Ecuadorian
This brilliant restaurant serves up a great mix of national and international cuisine, catering for those keen to sample some local delights and also those who are perhaps just feeling a little homesick and want some comfortingly familiar grub. The place does however tend to get crowded due to its popularity, so try to turn up early.
You can choose between sandwiches and lovely desserts, and much, much more. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the seating comfortable. The service is second to none; this is a great place to just relax in an informal setting. Mi Cocina is known for its great menu and the selection of traditional Ecuadorian dishes it serves - try the empanadas de medjido, which is said to be the best in town.
The coffee is superlatively good, no doubt due to the fact that it is organic and made using traditional methods. If you happen to drop by in the morning, you can enjoy the scrummy breakfast on offer. Overall, Mi Cocina is perfect for a casual meal, or for wrapping your taste buds around the local cuisine, if you've just arrived in the country.
