This wonderful Italian restaurant offers up a tempting list of dishes on a menu so long that its almost daunting. Rest assured, however, that whatever you pick you are very likely to walk away extremely satisfied and content because the food is absolutely superb.
Indeed, it is no surprise to anyone who has been fortunate enough to eat here that the restaurant is absolutely packed not just at weekends, but every night of the week. Il Risotto is without a doubt one of the greatest Italian restaurants in Quito. The dishes are from every region in Italy, meaning that reading the extensive menu is like an education in Italian gastronomy all by itself.
The main cluster of dishes revolve around pasta and risi, but, true to its name, the restaurant also serves up a variety of spectacular risottos. Particularly lovely is the salmon and arugula risotto. Another great dish is the house penne, served with a beautiful tomato sauce complete with olives, capers and eggplant. If you are feeling really daring, have a crack at the risotto with frogs' legs - showing a French influence!
As if this wasn't enough, the antipasti buffet is unrivalled and the desserts taste as spectacular as they look. To accompany your culinary experience, the wine list is extensive and has sensitively focused on wines from Latin America rather than those from over the pond.
